Using Image Capture to Scan Photos to iPhoto in Mac OS X
1) Check to see if the scanner driver is installed properly. You can do this by opening Image Capture (located in the Applications Folder) & checking to see if the device shows up in the left hand column. If it does not, you must download or install the software from the scanner manufacturer.
Otherwise:
a) Open the ‘Image Capture’ program.
b) Once open, select iPhoto from the ‘Scan To’ menu at the bottom if it isn’t already selected.
c) Press ‘Scan’
d) Wait while the image is scanned & imported automatically into iPhoto. iPhoto will show the scan immediately.
e) If the scanner fails to auto-detect the scan region properly (i.e. scans only part of the document or image), do the following:
i) Go back to Image Capture
ii) Press the ‘Show Details’ button at the bottom
iii) Wait for scanner to perform an initial preview scan
iv) Drag the small dots around the selected part of the preview scan until the correct scan region is selected.
v) Make sure that iPhoto is selected from the ‘Scan To’ menu. Adjust any other settings as necessary.
vi) Press the ‘Scan’ button when finished. The scanned image will be scanned & automatically imported into iPhoto.
Hope that helps -
